Barrier model

Six aspects or steps of trafficking in human beings (THB) for labour exploitation are identified that can offer a chance to prevent or fight it: recruitment, entry and identity, residence status, housing, work and financial aspects. This is called the barrier model, because it describes barriers that can be put up against THB. The model is described in the ‘Handbook of best practices of multidisciplinary cooperation against trafficking in human beings’.
