Guidelines for businesses
The Adstringo ‘Guidelines - in brief’ offer businesses an overview and checklist on how best to prevent exploitation of migrant workers.
The Adstringo ‘Guidelines to Prevent Abusive Recruitment, Exploitative Employment and Trafficking of Migrant Workers’ aim to:
- promote decent work
- protect fundamental rights at work
- strengthen the implementation of existing labour standards, especially in sectors that are sensitive to exploitation
- stimulate an equal playing field for ethical recruiters and employers
- promote strategic partnerships at national, regional and international level among public authorities, businesses, trade unions and NGOs to prevent abuse and exploitation.
The guidelines also include suggestions for public authorities, trade unions and NGOs.
The guidelines were drawn up as part of a project by the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, affiliated with the United Nations (HEUNI). Other partners in this project were the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, the University of Tartu in Estonia, and the Council of the Baltic Sea States Task Force against Trafficking in Human Beings (CBSS TF-THB).
